Church History

The tower looms dramatically above the medieval village; it is a marker to travellers and is floodlit on weekend nights.  Inside the church it is unexpectedly spacious, its quiet simplicity a centre of calm and light for today as it was for congregations of the past.  When the church was only half built, the Black Death paralysed the country and someone scratched his despair on the clunch walls.  Later, an unknown craftsman, perhaps fresh from work in the city, sketched Old St Paul's as it was before it was destroyed by the great fire of London.
